Points of Pride
  • Owosso High School Earns National Ranking: In May 2012, “U.S. News and World Report,” shared their findings of the Best High Schools project which identifies the country’s top-performing high schools. Owosso High School was ranked 36 out of 838 Michigan high schools including charter, magnet, and public schools. Owosso scored 1,380 out of 21,776 in the nation. Owosso High School also offers students a seven period schedule, 14 Advanced Placement classes with the possibility of college credit, dual college enrollment, and unique Career and Technical Education classes including Engineering I, Fashion Design and Virtual Enterprise Inc. Owosso High School has been continually accredited by NCA for over one hundred years. This distinction ensures our adherence to the highest standards and offers a rigorous, well-rounded educational program to all students.
  •  International Baccalaureate for All Students: Owosso’s teaching methods coincide with International Baccalaureate’s (IB) best practices. Owosso Middle School is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School.
  • 21st Century Classrooms: The support of the Owosso Public Schools Foundation and multiple other funding sources make it possible for students across the district to utilize nearly 400 iPads in classrooms. Owosso’s teachers employ these one to one computing devices for inquiry based instruction through real world applications.
  • World Languages and Global Studies: This exclusive curriculum teaches our students about cultures outside of North America. Through inquiry based projects, elementary students engage in learning an assortment of languages and cultures to be global minded citizens.
  • Performing Arts Achievements: The “Trojan” Band has earned perfect ratings at for 55 consecutive years. Owosso Middle School and Owosso High School Symphonic, Concert, and Freshman bands also consistently earn superior ratings. 
  •  Engaging our Youngest Learners: Bentley Bright Beginnings Early Childhood Center offers a variety of exceptional child care and preschool experiences focused on Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), with transportation to elementary schools.
  • Kindergarten Exploration Program: Owosso’s full-day kindergarten curriculum centered on literacy through: STEM, Fine Arts, World Languages, and Entrepreneurship in a nurturing environment with caring staff.
  • Outstanding Enrichment Opportunities: Field trips, clubs, sports, special events and service learning enhance each student’s learning experiences.
